Co-Commissioners Consortium
Thank you for your interest in joining the choral co-commissioning consortium for LONG LIVE THE QUEEN (a her-story of drag), with libretto by Cookie Diorio and music by Andrea Clearfield!
ArtPhilly’s participants have already raised over $65,000 in support for the creation and premiere of this work in June 2026. To fund the completion of this exciting piece, and to make performances of LONG LIVE THE QUEEN affordable and equitable for as many LGBTQ+ and/or other chorus performances as possible, we have suggested a flexible scale for co-commissioning fees based on chorus’s annual budgets or combined budgets for your chorus and partnering groups:
Co-commission fees may be paid in 2 installments.
All co-commissioners will receive:
Exclusivity for co-commissioning chorus performances for 3+ years (until early 2030)
A recording/video from the June 2026 world premiere, for study purposes
Piano/vocal scores for singers and chorus directors
2 electronic music tracks (mp3 format); one as texture under a section in Part 2, the other as transition between Part 2 and Part 3 and continuing into Part 3
If performed with the optional instrumental ensemble, a full conductor’s score plus 11-12 musicians’ parts (string quintet, piano, 2 percussion, flute, clarinet, 1-2 other winds TBD)
To have an SATB chorus and much easier funding “lift” for this project with your chorus, we recommend joining forces with other choruses and/or schools in your area! Similarly, Cookie Diorio’s fee as drag soloist (including costumes) is negotiable, ranging between $1,500 and $4,000, for several final rehearsals and a performance, plus travel and accommodation. Composer Andrea Clearfield will also be available to work with your chorus via Zoom or in person.
Please reach out to us if interested in joining this exciting and timely co-commissioning consortium, or if you have questions!
